POMONA FREEWAY STATE ROUTE 60 (SR-60) CLOSURES

CITY OF INDUSTRY - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces lane and ramp closures for a High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV or carpool) lane construction and pavement replacement project on the Pomona Freeway (SR-60) between the San Gabriel River Freeway (I-605) and Orange Freeway (SR-57). Ramp closures will be staged so that no two consecutive ramps are closed at the same time.  The following closure schedule will be in effect, weather permitting:    

Sunday Night, November 1
·        9 p.m. to 7 a.m. – Up to three lanes east- and westbound SR-60 between Brea Canyon Road and I-605
·        4 p.m. to 7 a.m. – Eastbound and westbound on- and off-ramps at Crossroads Parkway, 7th Avenue, Hacienda Boulevard, Azusa Avenue, Fullerton Road, Nogales Street, Fairway Drive And Brea Canyon Road
·        11 p.m. to 4 a.m. – Westbound SR-60 to north- and southbound I-605
·        11 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Northbound I-605 connectors to east- and westbound SR-60
·        6 p.m. to 6 a.m. – Southbound I-605 connector to eastbound SR-60

Daily, Monday, November 2 through Friday, November 6
·        9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Eastbound SR-60 off-ramp at southbound 7th Avenue off-ramp

Nightly, Monday, November 2 through Thursday, November 5
·        7 p.m. to 7 a.m. – Up to three lanes east- and westbound SR-60 between Brea Canyon Road and I-605
·        7 p.m. to 7 a.m.  – Eastbound and westbound on- and off-ramps at Crossroads Parkway, 7th Avenue, Hacienda Boulevard, Azusa Avenue, Fullerton Road, Nogales Street, Fairway Drive and Brea Canyon Road
·        11 p.m. to 4 a.m. – Westbound SR-60 to north- and southbound I-605
·        11 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Northbound I-605 connectors to east- and westbound SR-60
·        7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – Southbound I-605 connector to eastbound SR-60

NIGHTLY STREET CLOSURES
Sunday, November 1 through Thursday, November 5
·        11 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Turnbull Canyon Road between Palm and Los Robles
·        11 p.m. to 5 a.m. – 7th Avenue between Gale Avenue and eastbound SR-60
·        5 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Azusa Avenue between Gale Avenue and Pepper Brook Way
·        9 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Stoner Creek  Road between Gale Avenue and Castleton Street
·        11 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Stimson Avenue between Gale Avenue and Garo Street

State Route 60 is a heavily traveled freeway and a main truck route to and from the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.  The addition of carpool lanes will alleviate congestion on this route.  As part of this project, Caltrans will construct soundwalls to minimize freeway noise, upgrade and reconfigure on-ramps and off-ramps as needed. Completion of the project is estimated for Fall 2010. Skanska USA is the contractor on this $125 million project.  Caltrans advises motorists to “Slow For The Cone Zone.”
